Description: I. 'BATTLE OF OURCQ. The inhabitants of Meaux, celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the Battle of Ourcq, which resulted in the Germans being held at the Marne'. HA.LS over crowd filing through walled graveyard. LS over dense crowd surrounding entrance to church as a procession leaves the building bearing regimental flags. MS of war memorial commemorating the battle - locals stand about it.II. 'LORD MAYOR VISITS MILITARY HOSPITAL. The Lord Mayor accompanied by the Lady Mayoress visits the City of London Military Hospital and inspects the Wards'. Mayor and Mayoress arrive in horse-drawn coach to be greeted by leading medical staff. They visit soldiers whose beds have been drawn out onto an open veranda - the soldiers seem each to have been given flowers from the Mayoress' bouquet - one who lies smoking a cigarette as he fingers his flower, seems strangely unmoved. Nurses and the Mayoral party stand about a staked sapling - perhaps newly planted in honour of the occasion.III. 'WOMEN CYCLISTS' RALLY. Women cyclists from all parts of London meet at The Angel, Ditton, and cycle to Wisley'. HA.LS pan over cyclists assembled outside The Angel. They set out - despite the title men seem quite well represented. At a lakeside wood - presumably at Wisley - the ladies take a rest for refreshments. CU of two women, probably sisters, dressed in matching outfits of turban hats with belted cardigans over chequered cotton dresses. Both are eating some sort of pasty or turn-over, and while one beguiles the time with a newspaper, the other has a book. The third sister and Cinderella are not evident.IV. 'INSPECTION OF NURSES. Surgeon-General F.G. Jencken inspects the Nurses of the Middlesex Voluntary Aid Detachment'. Jencken and staff pass ranks of nurses fallen in on grassy field. Men march past - they wear khaki with Red Cross badges and some with armbands. Women follow behind - they are dressed in white pinafores over blues. Motor ambulances follow up the rear of the column. 'AMBULANCE WORK.' V.A.D. workers give a display at Gunnersbury Park. These volunteer workers are engaged nightly conveying wounded soldiers to hospitals'. Men place laden stretchers into the back of motor ambulances. MS of St John's nurses dressing the wounds of stretcher cases - one fortunate victim has four attendants. Officers look on.
